Design Your Own Holiday Card

If you’re anything like me, you are tired of looking at the same holiday card templates, year after year. Stand out this holiday season using drag and drop holiday card stores. Read this post if you want to become an expert in “DIY Holiday Card.”

Professional graphic designers and authors have created free holiday templates that you can customize to your needs. In this festive guide, I offer step-by-step instructions on creating unique bespoke holiday cards and breaking down which worthy printers can bring your creations to life.

Find Your Style

The first step to designing your holiday card is to create a collection of holiday card inspiration. You will find various design options, including folding cards, Christmas cards, theme cards, and much more. Choose from a variety of options to get you started with bespoke holiday photo cards that your friends and family will never forget.

Choose Your Design Platform

Depending on your level of comfortability, designing your holiday card can be as easy as drag and drop, or as complex as Adobe Creative Suite. I like to make my life easier while giving myself enough creative authority to make tweaks to an existing template. You don't have to be an expert in Adobe or Photoshop to create memorable cards!

Zazzle is a wonderful start. It allows you to create your holiday cards on your computer, and even better, on the go with its amazing mobile app!

Canva is another fantastic platform (web and mobile!) to create your DIY Holiday Card. Look at the example below. I transformed the original template (Photo #1) and made it my own (Photo #2).

Traditional Chic or New-Fashioned?

Flat or Fold? Foil or Matte? I think you’ll guess my answer. I always pay the extra amount for the thickest matte paper offered. Think of how your recipients will open the card. Imagine the experience. An ultra-thick matte paper option is my recommendation for a “traditional merriment meets transitional chic,” holiday card.

I used Simply To Impress to design my holiday card. I chose the “Premium Cardstock Double-Sided) paper option for my flat cards. Printed on an offset printing press with a complimentary design on both sides of the card, this heavyweight, high-quality cardstock is available in four fabulous finishes. I chose 16pt Matte.
