The Best Women's and Men's Activewear for Fall

What is a Skort
(& Why I can't Stop Wearing Them!)
A skort is exactly what it sounds like, a skirt with built in shorts, and it has quietly become one of the most searched activewear pieces this season. I started the show in a butter yellow skort with a scallop detail along the hem, which I genuinely thought was a spring and summer trend, but it is still everywhere heading into fall. It comes with interior pockets, a high waist that holds you in without feeling like shapewear, and it pairs beautifully with almost anything in a neutral or pastel palette.
My favorite way to style a skort for daytime is to keep the top half simple, a sports bra or a fitted top, and let the color of the skort do the talking.
Why I Layer With UPF 50 Fashion Year Round
I “live outside,” walking my two Cavalier King Charles spaniels, doing Pilates and yoga, and generally trying to avoid extra sun exposure wherever I can. That is why UPF 50 pieces are such a staple in my rotation.

UPF 50 long sleeve and sleeveless collared golf polos with a nice collar
If you are shopping for sun protective activewear, look for the UPF rating on the tag and pay attention to the fabric composition. A nylon spandex blend tends to hold up best for both movement and sun coverage.
Styling Tip: Monochrome
When you are not sure how to put pieces together, stick to one color family, or go full monochrome. I showed this with a navy skort and a white top for a crisp, yacht inspired look, and again in the men's segment with an all black outfit that instantly reads more put together. It is a simple trick, but it works every time.
Petite Fit Notes
For my petite shoppers, a few of the pieces I wore on the show came in a petite extra small, which means no trip to the tailor. I also talked through how I style two piece jogger sets so they fit better on a petite frame, pulling the fabric up slightly and blousing it over for a cleaner line. My honest recommendation if you are shopping for a guy in your life, buy the full outfit rather than separates. It takes the guesswork out of it, and it usually costs less than buying pieces individually. Amazon has the best UPF 50 golf polos in navy, black, and a few bright colors, quick dry hoodie with thumb holes and side coverage that is great for biking, and a set of terry shorts that pair easily with a white polo for a clean, sporty look.
